Community
Assets
The West Minden development will have a solar farm and internal optical network enabling reduced power rates and high speed internet connectivity. This will also help generate funds to contribute to maintaining and managing the community areas.
Walkways
Creating walkways is a key focus for the development and has been an integral part of the design. The main new walking track will link the development to Te Puna Stream and the council’s future greenlane tracks. There will also be additional private walkways established for the residents.
Greenspaces
West Minden will be landscaped to blend into the environment with tree plantings, wetlands and places to have a picnic. An orchard will be planted with access from our walking network. The development has 3.3Ha of protected bush and 1.5Ha of Reserve space.
Sustainability
Water
Each home will be equipped with its own rainwater harvesting system and encouraged to install a grey water system. This reduces the impact that we have on the environment around us. Reducing erosion, flood risks and improving stream water quality.
Micro Grid
West Minden will be connected to a solar farm providing energy directly to the residents at reduced energy prices and exporting excess energy back into the grid. The initial proposed size will be 100kWh with the potential to add more panels and batteries in the future.
Eco Design
High efficiency draft proof homes are essential to a high quality comfortable home. Improved thermal insulation standards and encouragement of efficient home design such as MHRV (Mechanical Heat-Recovery Ventilation), Thermal Mass and passive solar design will insure a comfortable healthy home.
Future Proof
Connectivity
West Minden will have its own fibre optic network connected to a centralised hub allowing unlimited high speed internet. Houses will be required to use the latest generation of cabling so that each home will be ready for a home enterprise or anything else the future will bring.
Energy
Energy of the future will be a decentralised model with high demand devices such as electric vehicles. West Minden will have its own solar farm and each home will have access to three phase power to ensure that they will be electric vehicle ready.
Design
The house you build today should be efficient and comfortable for years to come. West Minden will have covenants to ensure that the buildings value is retained, maximizing the desirability of the community into the future.
